Martin Hossbach loves to hear cover versions. He is also a Pet Shop Boys fan. He has therefore decided to ask his friends and favourite artists to cover a Pet Shop Boys song of their liking to be released on Martin Hossbach’s new sub-label Martin Hossbach Cover. Also, it’ll be Neil Tennant’s 65th birthday on 10 July and Chris Lowe’s 60th on 4 October which are both welcome occasions to celebrate Pet Shop Boys’ music.

Martin Hossbach Cover will release the cover songs digitally as they
are delivered. »Herzlichen Glückwunsch, Neil!« (Happy Birthday,
Neil) features three tracks: 1. Singer-songwriter Tara Nome Doyle
has already released music on Martin Hossbach (the EP »Dandelion«)
and is working on her debut album to be released on the label early
next year. She chose to cover »Girls Don’t Cry«, the b-side of the
single »I’m with Stupid« from 2006. 2. Berliners Oska Wald & Lorenz
O’tool are founding members of garage rock sensation Chuckamuck.
Having released three albums on Staatsakt, they’re now working on
their fourth. They chose Pet Shop Boys’ »Jealousy« from the album
»Behaviour«, 1990. 3. Berlin-based songwriter HAYUNG has just released his debut album on Späti Palace, another label from Berlin. He covered »Your funny uncle«, the b-side of the single »It’s alright« from 1989.

Once there is a certain amount of cover versions together, Martin
Hossbach Cover will release a compilation on cassette or on vinyl.
In the meantime, the covers will be placed in a (Spotify) playlist
entitled »Pet Shop Boys Covers«. All cover versions are available
separately as downloads and as streams.

The cover image for each release is a sketch, a drawing, a painting
or a caricature of Pet Shop Boys. The illustration for »Herzlichen
Glückwunsch, Neil!« comes from Emmy (Instagram: @drxwingincolor), a self-taught 18-year old artist from Berlin.
